Everything you need to know about Childcare in Les Gets

Les Gets is well known as one of the best family ski resorts in Europe, in this article we give you the reasons why the village is so great for the little ones!

In this article, we give you the reasons why the village is so great for the little ones!

This year Les Gets has once again been awarded the label Famille Plus, a national certification that consists of 110 requirements and 6 commitments for family holidays (read more about it in this blog). Based on the requirements, the village organises events throughout the week for families and children and also provides dedicated spaces for children to play.

The Bankids is a great example of the kind of facilities available in the village. This snowy and free-play area is situated behind the Office de Tourisme and has inflatable modules, ice caves, bear mascots and snowball walls.

The Office de Tourisme has also an indoor space dedicated to children within the building where children can play with games and toys while parents can find all the information needed about their holidays in peace. The lounge also has free wifi and you can see the Bankids play area from there.

Here is a mini-interview with 2 of our recommended nanny partners,

where they give you their insights about Les Gets and their nanny service:

 Ally From A Range Childcare

Where is the best place you would recommend to have some fun in Les Gets with small children? The Bankids in the Les Gets Maison is a fun slip and slide for little ones! And of course the carousel and the sledging area at the bottom of the Chavannes. Gondola rides up the Chavannes or Mont Chery for exploring and hunting in the snowy mountains.

What is the best outdoor activity you love doing with the children you are looking after? Building snow men and snow castles!  The Petit train ride is always loved by little ones! In the peak weeks, Les Gets Office de Tourisme organises animations in the square with a variety of games and workshops.

What is the best indoor activity you love doing with the children you are looking after? Messy play! Bringing the snow inside to experiment, mixing potions, painting and crafting...

Helen & Fleur From Alpine Resort Nanny company

Where is the best place you would recommend to have some fun in Les Gets with small children? We love the igloo soft play village at the back of the Tourist office. It's free and a safe zone for children and a lot of fun as it is suitable for smaller children and older alike. Not a good idea to take the kids before ski school, unless they can dry off, as the children can get quite wet having so much fun rolling around in the snow! :)

What is the best outdoor activity you love doing with the children you are looking after? It has to be snow play! The snow is your canvass and there is so much you can enjoy from the classic snowman building to snowball forts and of course sledging!

What is the best inside activity you love doing with the children you are looking after? Model making! The imagination is limitless and the results are always so amazing as every child thinks of something so different each time. It never gets dull!

Les Gets has 2 creches in the centre of the village

Les Fripouilles is a bilingual creche next to the Office de Tourisme, with a well equipped indoor space and also an outdoor space. For children from 6 months to 4 years old, you can choose a package or a la carte for a day or half a day.

Les P'tits Montagnys is another creche in the village, managed by the ESF. It is creche without skiing that offers indoor and outdoor activities for children from 4 to 12 years old on a regular or occasional basis with or without lunch.

Another great children's facility & quite unique is the new spa in Les Gets

The Sources of Mont Chery Spa has an area dedicated to children and is fully supervised. It consists of a water play area with games and activities involving water adventures and all things water related from pool noodles to balloons filled with water to climbing ropes and two water slides.

The play area is for children up to the age of 12 and is constantly monitored by fully trained lifeguards. The jungle theme adds to the fun element and children are encouraged to explore their surroundings and challenge themselves.

There are a number of dedicated family ski areas in Les Gets

The Milka run and the Indian ski area are easily accessed from the Chavannes Express from the village and the De La Croix chairlift from the Chavannes mid station. Close to the Nabor chairlift accessed by the Folliets Du Golf chairlift is the Penguin Park - a fun filled adventure park. For older children that are more advanced there is a Snowpark area accessed by the draglift Mouille Au Roy, close to the Grand Cry restaurant, mid station Chavannes.

For the beginners there are two great areas, Des Mappys beginner zone at Chavannes mid station and another beginner zone at the top of the  Du Pleney gondola which is accessed from Morzine. These areas have magic carpets which consist of moving trackes which take the novice skier to the top of the gentle slope and the novice can then practise their newly learned skills.

The dedicated family areas contribute to the overall fact that Les Gets is very conducive to holidays that cater to all ages and all levels of competency. Les Gets ensures that children of all ages are able to enjoy the resort, with and without their parents.

And this continues into the wonderful summer season. The lake has a WiBit water adventure park, water slides, lifeguards and playgrounds and there are many family friendly bike trails to suit all ages.
