Hiking up Pointe de Ressachaux - Les Gets

A good half day hike was spent, wonderful views over Morzine and also to Mont Blanc

Pointe de Ressachaux has quite a strong profile when on the Chavannes side, looking from the Pleney or by the Vaffieu restaurant, East. The climb is steady and a steep hike, but there is no scrambling, cables or ropes involved. There are many routes up, we parked close to La Grangette at Nyon lift car park, not far from Morzine and took the footpath up from there - this is around a 15-minute drive from Les Gets.

This climb is a very safe, well-trodden walk, easy to navigate and quite popular.

We (Ben and Mark) did this last Sunday, the vertical climb was around 1050m, the top is at 2173m. It took 4 hours 20 minutes round trip. There were wonderful views over Morzine, also of Mont Blanc and interesting view over Avoriaz – as you can see below. All of these pictures were taken last Sunday ( Mark also walked back from the Chavannes mid-station to Chalet Hastings in the afternoon and took the final picture of the mountain from there).

You can also see from the pictures below that this walk is suitable for most abilities.

The picture opposite was taken halfway up - looking over Morzine.

This is of Mark - this is to show that the walk is easily within the capabilities of someone 62 years old of average fitness. It looked like a vertical drop the other side of the cross - hence he was holding on!
