Les Gets - To Mossette and beyond and the Cookie Café
The Cookie Café is at the Pointe de Mossette, which makes it the highest restaurant in the Portes du Soleil at 2227m. It is also on the border between France and Switzerland, from where you can ski into both countries. It is certainly worth taking the time to visit and to ski into the Les Crosets bowl, or even do the PDS circuit if you have the full PDS pass. The return trip to Mossette from Les Gets makes a great day out and a perfect opportunity to see more of the Portes de Soleil. You should allow three hours to get there and back, plus the time you spend at the Cookie Café. If you go further afield you will need to allow at least five to six hours if you want to explore the Crosets bowl or do the PDS circuit.
The views from Mossette are spectacular, particularly if you make the effort to walk up to the cross just above the lift station. On one side you have the Linderet valley and views towards Lake Leman and on the other side is the Crosset/Champery valley with the very impressive Dents du Midi towering above the ski area. From here you get one of the best 360 degree panoramas of the Haute Savoie and the Swiss Alps.
The Cookie Café is a great place to stop for coffee and something to eat. On a sunny day there is a lovely good sized terrace, and when the weather not so good, you can enjoy various cosy lounge and eating areas. There is even an area where you can stretch out on sofas in the chillout lounge and enjoy a book from the lending library if the weather really closes in! The menu includes wholesome and healthy food for skiers with fresh burgers, wraps, pasta, salads, pizzas and soups - making it vegetarian friendly too. There are many good reviews about the quality of the food on Tripadvisor, but please be aware it will be very busy at busy times!

There are several routes to get here from Les Gets depending on your level of skiing ability and whether there are any specific runs or areas you wish to visit on the way. Attached to the map a suggested route to Mossette (shown in green) and a different route back (shown in red). Both are based on a mix of comfortable red and blue runs, but there are many alternatives you can take if you want harder reds, blacks and some off piste areas as well.
Te got to Mossette, start by crossing Les Gets ski area to arrive at Super Morzine.
Once at the top of the Super Morzine Telecabine, there is a connecting chairlift to the top of Zore – blue run down past Seraussaix to get on the Proclou charlift up over the golf course to the top of the snow park. As you do this you get great views across at Avoriaz and the surrounding ski area. When you get off the lift, directly opposite you is a wide path that leads you into a blue or a red run down to Brochaux where you will find the Mossette chairlift. The Mossette valley is stunning (see photo opposite) and although the skiing so far has not been very challenging, the views on the way up make up for it.
At the top, you have arrived! After your visit to the Cookie Café, you can continue into Switzerland and enjoy some more challenging ski runs and the vast area of off piste potential in the Crosset bowl. It is really worth a visit. On the return down to Brochaux, you can either take the piste through the valley or play in the off piste areas on either side. Alternatively, if you want a real challenge you could take a detour and conquer the Swiss Wall from the top of Chavannette lift.
The Brochaux chairlift takes you up to the ridge just above Avoriaz from where you can ski down through the village and observe the unique architecture – you either love it or hate it. You then have a choice according to your skiing ability. Either take one of the red or blue runs down to the bottom of Prodains, or take the Lac-Intrets lift up to ski the Coupe du Monde black run to the bottom of Prodains. This is one of the best runs in the Portes du Soleil.
At the bottom you then need to take the free ski bus back to Morzine (10-15 mins), which will take you directly to the Pleney Gondola (see photo). From the top of Pleney it is well sign-posted back to Les Gets.
